The local take
A spiritual heart of Jaipur with a devotional atmosphere and large local participation.
Govind Dev Ji Temple stands inside the City Palace complex, in the Jai Niwas Garden. The Govind Dev ji idol, worshipped as a form of Krishna, was brought to Jaipur when Sawai Jai Singh II moved his capital from Amber in the 1720s-30s, and the temple has remained one of the city's most important Krishna shrines ever since. It is known for its multiple daily aartis rather than continuous public darshan.
